Life-Sized Car Made Entirely Of Cardboard That Can Be Driven
Lexus UK has built an impressive, life-sized version of its IS Saloon, made using recyclable cardboard, and it is fully functional and can be driven.
They have partnered with UK design firms LaserCut Works and Scales and Models to build the amazing sculpture, which highlights the fine contours of the machine. It is comprised of some 1,700 individually shaped pieces of cardboard, precision cut and hand-assembled with wood glue.
According to their YouTube page, the car was built to “celebrate the takumi craftsmanship skills of our Lexus designers and engineers”—“Takumi” refers to the Japanese word for “artisan”, harking back to the company’s Japanese roots.
