Stress by Yoan Capote

The idea of this work comes from a personal experience of the artist, Yoan Capote, to push the teeth the effect of stress, but we can also consider this sculpture as a monument to the collective experience of stress in contemporary urban life. The first version of this piece (2002-2004) used real denture molds of different people. In this version, the artist uses the weight of 17 tons of concrete and monumental scale to reinforce the symbolism of the weight and impact of the work in public space. The teeth on weight bearing bronze each concrete block symbolically using gravity, and the tension strength of the materials.
