The architectural dystopia of Amy Casey

1

Born in Erie, PA, Amy Casey began studying art at the School of the Performing and Visual Arts in high school, and went on to focus on painting at the Cleveland Institute of Art. While there, she received a fellowship to the Yale Summer School of Art and Music in Norfolk, CT.

Since earning her BFA in 1999, Casey’s enjoyed a fellowship at the Vermont Studio Center, was artist in residence at Zygote Press in Cleveland in 2006 and, in 2007, was awarded an Ohio Arts Council Individual Excellence Award. In 2009, she was awarded the Cleveland Arts Prize as an emerging artist and CPAC’s Creative Workforce Fellowship, also in Cleveland.

Casey is represented by Zg Gallery in Chicago and Michael Rosenthal Gallery in San Francisco. She lives, paints and makes etchings in Cleveland with her rambunctious but perfect cats, Frankie and Wanda.
